Property Purchased for use as a Centre for KCL Christchurch

A Larger, Long-Term Centre for Christchurch

The Rinchen Jungdan Dongrum Gyal Foundation, established by Venerable Lama Assi, has acquired a property in Spreydon, Christchurch. This property has been made available for the use of Kagyu Choeyang Ling Christchurch to establish a larger, long-term centre for meditation practice and the study of Buddhism in the Karma Kagyu tradition.

The house is large and suitable for its purpose - there is sufficient space to provide accommodation for Lama, other visiting teachers and students. It is the first centre in Christchurch owned by a trust dedicated to the flourishing of the Kagyu Buddhist lineage and thus can be a significant step forward in securing the future of this lineage and the flourishing of Buddhism in the South Island of New Zealand.

15 Years of Lama's Aspiration
It has long been Lama Assi's wish that such a centre be established, and after 15 years visiting Christchurch his aspiration has now been achieved. Work is ongoing to make improvements to the centre.

A big thank you to the generosity of the donors and loan guarantors, to others who have given time and effort to make the purchase possible, and especially to Lama for his unceasing kindness and patience in establishing the conditions that support the creation of a centre.

Any financial support to support the ongoing imporvements to this centre is much appreciated.

New Shrines for KCL Nelson and Christchurch

The Rinchen Jungdan Dongrum Gyal Foundation has recently helped to raise funds for new shrines at the Kagyu Choeyang Ling (KCL) Buddhist centres in Nelson and Christchurch.

KCL Nelson has acquired a larger shrine to accommodate new statues and texts. KCL Christchurch has inherited Nelson's beautiful existing shrine and cabinets for texts.

Financial Management

The Foundation is a registered charitable trust and all contributions are managed in accordance with the trust deed and Lama Assi's guidelines for trustees. Pleasecontact us if you would like further information.
